Variational Learning for the Inverted Beta-Liouville Mixture Model and Its Application to Text Categorization
he finite invert Beta-Liouville mixture model (IBLMM) has recently gained some attention due to its positive data modeling capability. Under the conventional variational inference (VI) framework, the analytically tractable solution to the optimization of the variational posterior distribution cannot be obtained, since the variational object function involves evaluation of intractable moments. With the recently proposed extended variational inference (EVI) framework, a new function is proposed to replace the original variational object function in order to avoid intractable moment computation, so that the analytically tractable solution of the IBLMM can be derived in an effective way. The good performance of the proposed approach is demonstrated by experiments with both synthesized data and a real-world application namely text categorization
Low-dimensional Denoising Embedding Transformer for ECG Classification
The transformer based model (e.g., FusingTF) has been employed recently for
Electrocardiogram (ECG) signal classification. However, the high-dimensional
embedding obtained via 1-D convolution and positional encoding can lead to the
loss of the signal's own temporal information and a large amount of training
parameters. In this paper, we propose a new method for ECG classification,
called low-dimensional denoising embedding transformer (LDTF), which contains
two components, i.e., low-dimensional denoising embedding (LDE) and transformer
learning. In the LDE component, a low-dimensional representation of the signal
is obtained in the time-frequency domain while preserving its own temporal
information. And with the low dimensional embedding, the transformer learning
is then used to obtain a deeper and narrower structure with fewer training
parameters than that of the FusingTF. Experiments conducted on the MIT-BIH
dataset demonstrates the effectiveness and the superior performance of our
proposed method, as compared with state-of-the-art methods.Comment: To appear at ICASSP 202
Revisit to the yield ratio of triton and He as an indicator of neutron-rich neck emission
The neutron rich neck zone created in heavy ion reaction is experimentally
probed by the production of the isobars. The energy spectra and angular
distributions of triton and He are measured with the CSHINE detector in
Kr +Pb reactions at 25 MeV/u. While the energy spectrum of
He is harder than that of triton, known as "He-puzzle", the yield
ratio presents a robust rising trend with the polar angle in
laboratory. Using the fission fragments to reconstruct the fission plane, the
enhancement of out-plane is confirmed in comparison to the
in-plane ratios. Transport model simulations reproduce qualitatively the
experimental trends, but the quantitative agreement is not achieved. The
results demonstrate that a neutron rich neck zone is formed in the reactions.
Further studies are called for to understand the clustering and the isospin
dynamics related to neck formation
Male gametophyte-specific WRKY34 transcription factor mediates cold sensitivity of mature pollen in Arabidopsis
Mature pollen is very sensitive to cold stress in chilling-sensitive plants. Plant WRKY DNA-binding transcription factors are key regulators in plant responses to abiotic and biotic stresses. Previous studies have suggested that WRKY34 (At4g26440) gene might be involved in pollen viability, although the mechanism involved is unclear. In this study, it is shown that cold treatment increased WRKY34 expression in the wild type, and promoter-GUS analysis revealed that WRKY34 expression is pollen-specific. Enhanced green fluorescent protein-tagged WRKY34 was localized in the nuclei. Pollen harbouring the wrky34 allele showed higher viability than pollen with the WRKY34 allele after cold treatment. Further functional analysis indicated that the WRKY34 transcription factor was involved in pollen development regulated by the pollen-specific MIKC* class of MADS-domain transcription factors under cold stress, and cold-insensitivity of mature wrky34 pollen might be partly attributable to the enhanced expression of transcriptional activator CBFs in the mutants. Thus, the WRKY34 transcription factor negatively mediated cold sensitivity of mature Arabidopsis pollen and might be involved in the CBF signal cascade in mature pollen
Molecular epidemiology of measles viruses in China, 1995–2003
This report describes the genetic characterization of 297 wild-type measles viruses that were isolated in 24 provinces of China between 1995 and 2003. Phylogenetic analysis of the N gene sequences showed that all of the isolates belonged to genotype H1 except 3 isolates, which were genotype A. The nucleotide sequence and predicted amino acid homologies of the 294-genotype H1 strains were 94.7%–100% and 93.3%–100%, respectively. The genotype H1 isolates were divided into 2 clusters, which differed by approximately 2.9% at the nucleotide level. Viruses from both clusters were distributed throughout China with no apparent geographic restriction and multiple co-circulating lineages were present in many provinces. Even though other measles genotypes have been detected in countries that border China, this report shows that genotype H1 is widely distributed throughout the country and that China has a single, endemic genotype. This important baseline data will help to monitor the progress of measles control in China
A New Fault Simulation Test and Evaluation Method of Distribution Automation System
This paper proposes a fault simulation test method suitable for five divisions of power supply area. Distribution network structures are classified according to different power supply areas and more active interference is injected into test cases, which makes fault scenarios more diverse. Besides, to evaluate the whole process of fault isolation and recovery, the index of fault isolation and index of fault restoration are presented separately, and power recovery rate is provided to evaluate the load transfer capability. In the end, two typical test cases are displayed to clarify the whole test procedure and the use of evaluation method
An improved tamper detection and localization scheme for volumetric DICOM images
The development of teleradiology brings the convenience of global medical record access along with the concerns over the security of medical images transmitted over the open network. With the prevailing adoption of three-dimensional (3-D) imaging modalities, it is vital to develop a security mechanism to provide large volumes of medical images with privacy and reliability. This paper presents the development of a new and improved method of implementing tamper detection and localization based on a fully reversible digital watermarking scheme for the protection of volumetric DICOM images. This tamper detection and localization method utilizes the 3-D property of volumetric data to achieve much faster processing time at both sender and receiver sides without compromising tamper localization accuracy. The performance of the proposed scheme was evaluated by using sample volumetric DICOM images. Results show that the scheme achieved on average about 65 % and 72 % reduction in watermarking and dewatermarking processing time, respectively. For cases where the images had been tampered, it is possible to detect and localize the tampered areas with improved localization resolution in the images using the scheme
